Working with Special Needs

We now offer an additional day of training to focus strictly on our Special Need students. This will provide extra training to better develop our youth’s skills. Each student will have the opportunity to practice and play games in our 4Kids WorldWide Co-ed or Girls Basketball Academy.

Training will develop:

· Speech – encouraging language by leading during stretches, encouraging other teammates

· Adaptive PE – focusing on large motor skills such as: running, jumping, dribbling ball

· Social Skills – leadership and team building by communicating with their teammates

Evalualtion

Children will be evaluated by their improvement with working with others and their improvement with self-advocacy (asking for assistance, taking responsibility).

Child must be able to:

· Run and jump independently

· Need minimal prompting

· Work independently

Who?

Our league is FREE for PUSD students to ensure each child has an opportunity to participate.

Donations are welcomed.

Uniform/T-shirt Fee - $50 - (Can also be used for future seasons)
Fundraisers are conducted

Non-PUSD Participants: We will accept a limited number of participants outside the Pomona Unified School District.

Participation cost - $150

3rd thru 6th – 4 participants
7th thru HS – 4 participants

Dates

Spring Season: February 25 to May 16

Grades 3rd thru High School

Dates: February 25, Mandatory Orientation: 5:00 pm to 6 pm

Practice days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays according to groups.

Groups will be determined at player evaluation on February 25. We separate by skill level, not grade level.
